Birthlight in Greece - report Sally Lomas

I was recently teaching in Athens and was delighted to discover a vibrant and growing Birthlight community. We have offered courses in Greece for a few years and many have been drawn to our teachings seeing the opportunity to change the experience of pregnancy and birth for women and their babies. Despite the difficult economic situation there are now many pregnancy and baby classes and an expanding Birthlight family. Anna Zorzou has pioneered pregnancy and postnatal for yoga teachers and Elda Lati and Winston have organised baby and toddler trainings.

My recent trip was for Baby Yoga part 2 and it was wonderful to see so many students gaining their Qualification and hearing about the success of their classes. Elda is an independent midwife with many years of experience and great knowledge. She is also a Birthlight teacher and uses the techniques within her practice. When I asked her what differences she saw when women had prepared with Birthlight, she sat thoughtfully and then said “ I see less suffering and more enjoyment”. I opened our recent conference with her words as I feel this represents our Birthlight principles and supports our aim “For the greater enjoyment of pregnancy, birth and babies.” This photo is of Elda holding up her beautiful embroidered banner made with love over many years.

Hello to all teachers, parents and babies in Greece. I miss you Sally
